Information on the SIIM 2009 Annual Meeting

In recent years, the scope of the SIIM Annual Meeting has expanded dramatically in parallel with the rapid expansion of the imaging informatics field. Medical imaging informatics is a relatively new multidisciplinary field that intersects with the biological sciences, health services, information sciences and computing, medical physics, and engineering. Imaging informatics touches every aspect of the imaging chain and forms a bridge with imaging and other medical disciplines.

The SIIM Annual Meeting is recognized as the preeminent educational forum and technical exhibition in image and information systems management, workflow, and innovation. The conference provides an open and collegial atmosphere for imaging informatics professionals to access expert, unbiased, cutting-edge resources as well as practical information for problem solving in the clinical setting. SIIM is interested in all medical specialties, therefore it is expanding its call and focus on abstract topics in the specialty areas of pathology, cardiology, nuclear medicine, radiation oncology and therapy, nuclear medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, veterinary medicine, and dentistry. With the theme “Gateway to Enterprise Imaging,” SIIM 2009 will highlight imaging and imaging-related activities throughout the health care enterprise.
